CLIP: Here’s our interview with Joshua Fischer, author of ‘Meet the Regulars’

The author of a book about bars and restaurants and other places where famous and not-so-famous Brooklynites like to hang out apologized to Brooklyn Paper Radio host Gersh Kuntzman for not including him in the tome — and promised to get the fledgling playwright into his next work.

Joshua Fischer, who wrote “Meet the Regulars — People or Brooklyn and the Places They Love” which includes 41 interviews and 125 photos of Brooklyn regulars like NY1 anchor Pat Kiernan, Saturday Night Live star Shasheer Zamata, and even Borough President Adams, said he didn’t mean to upset Kuntzman by leaving out the self-proclaimed “ultimate Brooklyn guy.”

“Next time around I’m sure we can find something that can work out with you in it,” Fischer said.

A diplomatic Kuntzman accepted the apology before Fischer deftly explained to him exactly why humans tend to seek out places and become regulars at them, as opposed to going to different places every time out.

“People need to find a second home, another living rooms,” he said. “They find a place where people knows their name that they can rely on, and it builds a sense of comfort, a sense of community.”
