Do they or don’t they?
This week on Brooklyn Paper Radio, Daily News columnist Gersh Kuntzman and Brooklyn Paper Editor Vince DiMiceli grilled two behemoths of Brooklyn brewing about the upcoming Brooklyn Pour craft beer festival — and they asked the tough question: Do you now, or have you ever in the past, consumed Budweiser?
The answers will surprise you. Sure, KelSo of Brooklyn founder Kelly Thomas and Marcus Lutter of Sixpoint Brewery might hem, haw, and even belch their way around the controversial topic, but in the end, they’re be forced to admit it: I scream, you scream, but every once in a while, we all scream for a cold Bud.
But then Brooklyn Paper Radio’s indomitable duo cracked open a few cold ones and let Thomas and Lutter do what they do best: Spin yarns about the world of craft beers, and preview their appearance at Saturday’s sixth-annual Brooklyn Pour.
In addition to all this heady talk, Dave Sheinkopf from Pioneer Works in Red Hook stopped by the studio high in the Brooklyn Paper Building to talk about Sunday’s Red Hook Regatta, which, we’re told, does not require anyone to wear a seersucker suit or peer through a monocle. It is actually a fun event at the Valentino Pier hosted by the arts non-profit founded by legendary hipster Dustin Yellin.
Under tough questioning from Gersh and Vince, Sheinkopf admitted that there’s no reason why an arts group needs to be non-profit — except, frankly, that’s just how it goes in the arts world.
And finally, Vince told a long story about how he once got blocked in a parking lot by a Bentley — a Bentley, Jerry! — and when the driver finally returned after an hour, he did not (we repeat, did not) slip Vince a sawbuck for his troubles.
